The saying goes: “If you seek help, seek it not from the rich, but from the poor.”
In my travels as a missionary, I have found the poor are far more generous than the rich, though, logically, the rich have more to give. The poor widow in today’s gospel gave more than any of the rich contributors around her because she had less to give. She gave it knowing some people still had it worse than she did.
God is not interested in how much we give, but in why we give. God does not look at the amount of the gift, but at the spirit of the giver.
What stops me from giving back? What are my intentions when giving?
We pray for generosity in our hearts today.
