A Master Class in Prayer by Jesus: Family Reflection Video

A Master Class in Prayer by Jesus: Family Reflection Video

Why pray?

This week, the Lord Jesus is giving us a master class in prayer. We're reminded not to just kick back in our comfy armchairs and pray passively. Today Jesus is using active verbs such as ask, seek and knock.

The first reading about Queen Esther offers us a perfect example of active prayer. She takes off her royal robes and crown, dons sackcloth and ashes, and lays prostrate on the ground from morning to evening praying to God: “Help me, who am alone and have no help but you” Esther 43:14. It works! And the people are saved through her prayers.

A more contemporary example would be my story of the harried mom who was trying to quit smoking and how her young son sitting next to her turned that all around for her. I hope it inspires you to pray too!

If you ask and seek and knock in prayer, know this, you may give good things to your children … but how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
