As we begin the season of Lent, we are reminded of the choice God gave to the children of Israel through Moses.

“I have set before you life and prosperity… If you obey the commandments of the Lord,… by loving him, and walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments… you will grow numerous. [On the other hand, if] you turn away your hearts and will not listen … you will certainly perish."

So friends, let us use these days of LENT as an opportunity to spend our time, deepening our practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Being in prayer will help us to see what we've done wrong, to renounce immediate gratification giving us lasting joy, and to refrain from unnecessary purchases in order to share with those in need. Happy and prosperous LENT!

Father Pinto Paul C.S.C., ordained a priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1999, worked with tribal populations in northeast India as a missionary for ten years. In 2010 he came to the US for further studies. While working as a campus minister at Stonehill College, he assisted pastors in local parishes, led seminars and workshops for teachers and students in the US and earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Boston College and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Lesley University, Cambridge. He is currently working as the International Director of the Boston-based Holy Cross Family Ministries with missions in 18 countries.
