My following of Jesus was nothing extraordinary. I didn’t consider myself qualified, worthy or deserving of the call ... it was all a coincidence.
Jesus never calls us when it’s perfectly convenient. No, he calls precisely when we are in the middle of living our lives. All he asks for in response is a reply of love.
Just as Jesus selected his disciples, he asks us to trust and follow him. If we love him more than ourselves, we can follow him at once. His call to each of us is a reflection of God’s profound love and trust for human nature. We just have to pay attention and respond.
There is no “perfect” time for Jesus to call you. There will always be laundry, work, heartache, and other distractions. Amidst the busyness of daily life, talk with your family about the importance of listening and responding to Jesus’ call.
I pray you and your family immediately follow your own call. God bless.
