John and Mary Peyton planted the mustard seed of the Kingdom of God in the heart of their son Patrick from the time he was small as the family gathered every evening to pray the Rosary in the kitchen of their peasant farmhouse in Ireland a hundred years ago.
Poverty led young Patrick Peyton to America but it was really the Holy Spirit then guiding him to the Seminary… then, when he was gravely ill from Tuberculosis to have faith in God and love of Our Lady strong enough to BELIEVE that he would be healed and he was. That was only the beginning. A lot of people looked down on that Irish country kid in New York and in Hollywood, as he launched his mission of FAMILY PRAYER – yet that mission proved unstoppable. The Holy Spirit and Our Lady were working POWERFULLY. Doors would open. The impossible became possible. The Kingdom of Heaven was being visibly manifested as the world-wide mission of the Family Rosary grew, blossomed and bore fruit all around the world.
Father Peyton always knew that he was just “Our Lady’s donkey”, as he called himself. His humility was what most impressed people. It was Our Mother Mary that wanted Father Peyton’s mission to plant that mustard seed of the Kingdom of Heaven in the hearts of millions, the way it was planted in the hearts of young Pat Peyton and all his Family – through prayer and living the faith in the home. WE continue Father Pat’s mission. WE IMPLORE THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT ALL YOUR FAMILIES NOW HEAR THESE WORDS TAKE TO HEART THIS MUSTARD SEED OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
It will grow differently, in the life of each person. Not everyone is called to travel the world preaching as was Father Peyton. Each person, each family, is uniquely called to reveal the Kingdom in lives of deep relationships of Love of God and each other and in the Church; service, even the self sacrifice that leads to true peace and happiness! FIND OUT FOR YOUR SELF!
The Blessed Virgin Mary is our GREATEST EXAMPLE. Jesus, God Himself is the mustard seed of the Kingdom to whom she said FIAT, BE IT DONE UNTO ME… SHE SHOWS US WHERE THIS GREAT ADVENTURE IS TO LEAD: TO THE FULLNESS OF LIFE, TO BECOMING ONE WITH GOD.
It is still OCTOBER, ROSARY MONTH – A TIME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PRAYER OF THE ROSARY IS REALLY ABOUT: FERTILE GROUND FOR RECEIVING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
