The conversion of Saint Paul and his example of apostolic zeal and courage inspires us to return to God and be active instruments in the spread of the Gospel.
“Yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20
In today’s reading, Saul the persecutor became Paul the preacher. One sentence determined his theology, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” In my story of the addict, it was also an encounter with Jesus that made him a Christian.
Both men saw God’s magnificent expression of saving, life-giving love in the crucified and risen Christ. It impelled Paul to live completely for Christ …to proclaim his Word and keep him going through his daunting hardships. It can do the same for us.
When we gather for the Eucharist, we come to realize a little more deeply how much we are loved by Christ! This experience empowers us to share the truth of the Gospel by our words and actions with our family and friends. Think about something you’ve said or done for someone because you are loved by Christ.
Ask our Heavenly Father to make you and your family instruments of love and healing, through the power of His spirit. God bless us all.
