Cultivating A Spirit Of Kindness — Homily Reflection Video

Cultivating A Spirit Of Kindness — Homily Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor  |  Holy lives of inspiration

Psychological researchers have found that the more we direct our attention toward positive thoughts, the stronger the neural pathways connected to positive thoughts and feelings, even enhancing our ability to access them.

Jesus and Saint Paul were able to lead others towards positivity. Saint Paul directs the attention of the Philippians to a positive state of mind by telling them he has confidence in them.

In the Gospel, Jesus directs His listeners to a positive state by showing compassion when He heals the suffering. When we follow His example of showing compassion, we will grow as Christians becoming more “pure and blameless for the day of Christ,” as Saint Paul says.

Wherever we are, we can help each other grow in our Christian lives by:

  • Encouraging one another, which promotes self-confidence and courage
  • Expressing approval, showing trust, and supporting people’s strengths
  • Cultivating a spirit of kindness and reassurance

Let us pray that this day, we encourage one another in moments of discouragement, that we express calm amid turmoil, and that we show a spirit of kindness to others. May we remember that God is with us always with his heart of compassion.
