The water of the humble Jordan River looked to me like the brown water of an ordinary ditch. No wonder Naaman didn’t want to go in it!
Beginning this 3rd week of Lent, we witnessed Jesus in yesterday’s Gospel cleansing the temple with words and actions shocking the merchants and religious leaders whom he accused of turning his Father’s House into a den of thieves.
Friends, our hearts and homes are the temples of the Lord today. Has any part of our temple become mired in sin? Has the temple of our heart grown deaf to the simple commands of God because we listen only to other commands?
With your family, discuss how in these remaining weeks of Lent, you can do whatever He tells you to do. How will each of you let him cleanse the temple of your heart? I shared some ideas with you today but maybe you already know what it is you need to do.
I pray you will plunge into these final weeks of Lent so He can remove the leprosy of selfishness and sadness, and renew in you and your family the joy and youth of your heart.
