Family Reflection Video: Baptism of the Lord

Family Reflection Video: Baptism of the Lord

sacraments  |  Learn more about our faith

Today, through a personal family story, we reflect on the grace of Baptism, the first sacrament you receive in the Catholic Church.

I shared this story to remind you of the sacredness of Baptism. As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or guardians we each have a responsibility to nurture the spiritual needs of our young ones early in their lives.

In today’s gospel we hear about the Baptism of Jesus, which makes all things new and fresh! It fills us with opportunities to see and hear our Father’s voice saying to each of us, “This is my beloved child, in whom I am well-pleased.”

Take time to remind your family members that because of Jesus and his Baptism in the Jordan, we are all sons and daughters beloved by our Father. Rejoice in knowing this!

Let’s end our time together today with this simple prayer:

Lord,

too often I do not feel beloved by you

or loving toward my own family.

Heal my lack of trust and

help me to love as you love,

with great mercy and tenderness.

Amen.
