Our identity, relationship and vocation as a disciple of Christ is determined by one measure. Can you guess what that is?
Our discipleship is not measured by how many prayers we say or by how well we can recite Church teaching but rather by how we love God and our neighbor.
Jesus on the cross shows us the vertical and horizontal dimensions of love. The vertical dimension represents each of us and our own personal relationship with God alone. But the horizontal dimension of love is also required of us as Christian disciples – stretching out our arms … reaching out to our brothers and sisters!
As a family tonight, discuss how being loved makes you feel. Then talk about how you feel when you love someone. Can you say to each of your family members, “No matter what happens, I will always be there for you”?
Dear friends, I pray you reach out to others with love today … you will feel alive, you will smile and it will help you see the light in your darkest hour. I pray for you a life well spent and shared in the spirit of love!
