Do you have election exhaustion? It’s been a busy year of emotional presidential debates, unkind campaign tactics, and upsetting scandals. After tomorrow night, it’s time for the entire country to extend the hand of friendship with one another, forgive and move forward … together.
In the Gospel today, we hear the apostles ask for an increase in faith because they can’t easily forgive someone who’s acted unjustly. Still, Jesus implores them to be humble of heart and forgive. Even if they have to do it multiple times.
As this presidential election draws to a close, I am reminded of President Abraham Lincoln who spoke of “charity toward all and malice toward none.”
Together, let us pray for our country. Lord, increase our faith. May we all begin anew with open minds and forgiving hearts, and move forward together. Amen.
