Family Reflection Video: Not For Me But For You

Family Reflection Video: Not For Me But For You

Learn more about our faith  |  trust  |  John

Here’s a story about two angels that helps us understand why God made us in His image and not merely to be His puppets.

Just as God loves us freely, we are free to choose between loving Him or being estranged from Him. Love, not law, is the foundation of our relationship with God. We can allow God to express Himself through us!

With Jesus as our example, we love God by loving and caring for others, especially our family. Do you allow God to express Himself through you? Can you think of some examples? Is there someone you know that consistently allows God to express Himself through him/her? Why do you think so?

My friends, when struggling with what is God’s will in a situation, you might try what the late Thomas Merton once recommended and ask yourself, what is best for those people around me?

Dear God,

joy fills my heart when I witness the sacrifices

family members make for one another.

Your love is felt when I can do something for others

that entails a sacrifice on my part.

I sense your presence.

Amen.
