Help Wanted: Contact Jesus to apply.
Jesus’ encounter with his new apostle Nathanael (Bartholomew) in today’s Gospel reveals three things to us:
- Jesus uses a network of friends and acquaintances to make his invitation to follow. (People always share good news with other people!)
- Jesus is not looking for his followers to become someone other than who they really are.
- Jesus doesn’t care about his followers’ background or where they come from.
Ask members of your family what kind of person they think Jesus is looking for to become His follower. There will probably be many different ideas and comments. But it’s not that complicated. All that matters is our relationship with Him and our willingness to introduce Him to others.
May your actions “tell it like it is” … that Jesus is Lord, the Son of God.
It’s wonderful to be here today! Please pray for those who are studying in Peru to become priests and brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross. God bless you.
