In honor of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, we welcome a very special blog author today, Sister Mary Ventura Fernandes, FS, from the Sisters of Our Lady of Fatima Convent in Kumarghat, Tripura, India.
God our Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit showed their nearness to humanity through the touch of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with her tenderness to people and did it by choosing three little children Lucy, Jacinta and Francis. In spite of their tender age, they courageously defended their faith against those who did not believe them.
At Fatima in Portugal, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to these three little children on the 13th of every month from May to October in the year 1917. In every one of these six apparitions she told the children, "Pray the Rosary."
Finally, at the end of the apparitions, the Blessed Mother gave herself the title: "Our Lady of the Rosary.” If our Lady insisted six times to pray the Rosary and actually called herself "Our Lady of the Rosary," then she really wants us to do so!
Last year commemorated the 100 years of blessings of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima. Our sweet mother wants her children to adhere to this simple and profound devotion, which deepens our relationship with her and our Lord Jesus Christ.
We live in evil times. Sadly, many are being swept away by this flood of evil and are succumbing to an overwhelming anxiety and discouragement. But no matter how tempting it is, we must not shrink back. We are to pray with a living faith and a firm confidence - and there is no better way to do this than by praying the Rosary. Through this prayer of immense power, countless miracles have been obtained and victories won!
Through Rosary prayer we will obtain all that we need and will vanquish the enemies of our soul. Through it we will find peace and joy in the trials of life.
God bless you!
Sister Ventura
