I am convinced that the Lord has very important lessons for us to learn this Holy Week. Christians believe in Divine Providence, not chance. Not that God wants to make bad things happen to us, but rather He is always with us, guiding and leading us to the fullness of life - - as we learn and grow on our way.
Certainly this is an unusual Holy Week, strange even, so the Lord must have special lessons for us! Perhaps He wants us to see Him where He carries the Cross, , suffers, dies, and rises today – and the Pandemic makes us focus our eyes there.
Paying careful attention to the Scriptures we see that Mary, Our Sorrowful Mother, is our guide, even the key to understanding how to walk the way of the Cross with Jesus. When the others abandoned Him and lost faith, not only did she believe, heart to heart she shared His pain. She believed that He was making all things new, that, as He foretold, in three days He would rise.
Let us live this Holy Week very intentionally. Participate in the Liturgies these days with your families, online. Fortunately, we can watch lots of religious films with our kids too, and talk about them. Pray the Rosary together. Especially, let’s keep our hearts on Christ, with Mary, where He suffers now, in the hospitals, with those who suffer alone, with the poor all around the world.
By the grace of God, when we come to the end of the pandemic, may our hearts and the hearts of even billions be changed through the experience.
