From the sayings of the desert Father;
A brother questioned Abba Arsenius to hear a word from him and the old man said to him, "Strive with all your might to bring your interior activity into accord with God, and you will overcome exterior passions.”
The disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray, and the prayer he gives to them, “The Lord’s prayer”, basically invites them to totally surrender to God, to bring all their focus on consistently carrying out his will.
Humility Opens Us to God's Will
One of the qualities that I have come to believe, cultivate and trust as essential in assisting me to carry out ministry successfully, is humility. Having a realistic view of myself and being able to recognize both my strengths and limitations. Humility is a virtue that allows me to be open and willing to do what I have been asked to do and do it diligently. Humility draws me into acknowledging that I don’t have it all, I need God’s Grace, and others to accomplish whatever task before me. That implied that I strive to empty myself of arrogance, pride, and let the Grace of God prevail in my heart, thoughts and actions. To bring my interior activity into accord with God’s, through listening to confreres and superiors in the community. Mind you I did not start out that way as a young priest, I have been shaped by many learning experiences.
Back to the Lord’s prayer, that Jesus teaches his disciples. The prayer invites them as it does for us here, to totally surrender to
Invitation to God Providence
God, focus their attention to God’s will in their lives. And this demands humility, to die to oneself in order that God’s will may prevail. The prayer itself impels the disciples as it does for us, to forge their entire life around God’s precepts. To trust in his providence, because he always responds with grace and mercy. He delights in giving not what they want or deserve but what is good for them.
The Lord’s prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, shows us how to live our lives as Christians, It is not about our will but God’s I found these quotes that, they call “the three-word prayers, which spells out clearly must be our mission: “God use me” for surrender and divine purpose,(highlights the call for us to totally surrender ourselves to God’s will. “Here I am” to invite divine action. (talks about dependence on God’s providence) Can we pray for grace and strength to embrace God’s will in our lives
