God's Love is Greater - Family Reflection Video

Healing the family  |  Holy lives of inspiration

Today's readings from the Old and New Testaments share a common theme: the mercy of God. We see in both the story of Susanna and the woman caught in adultery that God's love is greater than any sin or injustice we may face.

In the story of Susanna, we see a woman who is falsely accused of adultery by two corrupt elders. They threaten her with death if she does not give in to their desires. But Susanna is a woman of great faith who refuses to compromise her integrity.

In her moment of crisis, Susanna turns to God for help. She prays for strength and courage, and God hears her prayer. He sends the prophet Daniel to save her from the unjust accusations of the elders.

Likewise, in the Gospel, we see a woman who is caught in the act of adultery. The Pharisees bring her before Jesus, hoping to trap Him. But Jesus does not fall into their trap. Instead, He shows mercy and compassion to the woman.

He challenges those who accuse her, reminding them that they, too, are sinners. And He tells the woman, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more."

My dear brothers and sisters, both of these stories offer us a powerful message. They remind us that God's mercy is always greater no matter what sin or injustice we may face. Like Susanna and the woman caught in adultery, we can turn to God in our moment of need and find the strength and courage to overcome even the most difficult challenges.

We may face false accusations, persecution, or temptation. But we can trust in God's mercy to see us through. We can pray for the strength and courage to face our challenges with integrity and faith, just as Susanna did.

And like the woman caught in adultery, we can turn to Jesus in our moment of need and find compassion and forgiveness. We can be confident that no matter what mistakes we may have made, God's mercy is always available to us.

So let us take heart in the stories of Susanna and the woman caught in adultery. Let us be inspired by their faith and courage and let us trust in God's mercy to see us through even the most difficult challenges.
