God's Unfailing Presence - Weekday Homily Video

Learn more about our faith

Today's Scriptures speak powerfully to our lives, reminding us that we are never alone, no matter what fears, uncertainties, or even jealousies we might face.

God's boundless compassion and care reach into every corner of our existence, stretching far beyond any limits we could imagine.

God's Love Is Abundant

In our first reading, Genesis shows a family wrestling with intense emotions. Sarah, consumed by jealousy and fear, sends Hagar and Ishmael into the desert. Their situation looks desperate, a path to certain despair. Yet, even there, in that seemingly hopeless place, God hears their cries and sends comfort. He doesn't abandon them. Instead, He clearly shows that His love and blessings are abundant enough for everyone. God's love doesn't shrink when it's shared; it multiplies. So is ours—the more we give, the more we receive. His care reaches even those we might consider forgotten or lost.

God's Enduring Presence

Then, in Matthew's Gospel, we again witness God's limitless compassion. Jesus encounters two tormented individuals, outsiders society considered unclean and unworthy. Does He reject them? Does He condemn them? No. He frees them from their pain. Even when society distances itself, God draws near. His mercy is for everyone—Jew and Gentile, clean or unclean—because in God's eyes, every single person is precious and deserves love.

These readings hold profound lessons for our own families. How often do our fears and insecurities lead us to act in ways we later regret? How often do we feel isolated or alone, convinced no one truly understands our struggles? Yet, today, God offers us hope. He reassures us that He is always close by, especially in our moments of distress.

The Eucharist we share today is the ultimate reminder of God's enduring presence and infinite compassion. He enters our lives, offering us strength and hope. Jesus is alive! As we receive this precious gift from our living God, let's also commit ourselves to sharing that same hope and compassion within our own families, working to overcome fears, jealousies, and divisions.

Let us be renewed by the certainty of God's faithful love. Be confident that He watches over each one of us, guiding us through our darkest times toward the light of His peace and joy.
