How Can This Be? Family Reflection Video

Learn more about our faith  |  Holy lives of inspiration

As Christians we expect that God has a plan for us and that he calls us to it ... so why are we often greatly troubled when it happens?

Even Mary was greatly troubled about her calling from God. The news was extremely surprising! She wondered, how could this be?

When I think about this, the story I shared with you today about the night before a seminarian’s ordination often comes to mind. None of us are worthy of God’s call. By his grace, we hope to respond with, yes, like Mary did.

As a family, ask each other if you’ve ever felt that God was calling you to a vocation or to do something. Did you think it was unusual? Uncomfortable? Unlike you? How did you respond? How did it turn out?

God usually calls us from within our families. Let us cherish our families. Let us pray together that families offer the love and support needed to nurture God’s call in one another.
