How Do You Handle Being Cornered? Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor  |  Holy lives of inspiration

Fight your way out or think of something else…

In today’s gospel, Herod has John the Baptist killed because he put himself into a hard situation. He didn’t want to lose credibility with his guests but what he did lose was his relationship with God.

I recently got a letter from a father whose son is going off to college. I think for all those going back to school, parents are hoping when faced with a choice, their kids will humbly do the right thing and not give in to the easy way out to impress their friends or those watching. The right thing allows us to walk forward with the peace of Christ knowing we’ve also done right by God and by our brothers and sisters.

How do we deal with public choices: do we fess up and admit we’re in over our head or do we try to deny our situation?

Let us pray for those making choices in the face of an audience, may they take the righteous path.
