How to Tame a Fox - Family Reflection Video

How to Tame a Fox - Family Reflection Video

Why pray?  |  Strengthening family unity

The fox gazes at the little prince a long time. "Please tame me!" He begs. In a way, husband and wife, 'tame' each other, if they are patient. If they are self-sacrificing, and if they give the gift of themselves to each other. With God’s help and grace, they bring joy to each other. Priests and people 'tame' each other as well, with the help of God’s grace.

As daily life exposes our weaknesses and we acknowledge them, then God’s grace becomes our strength and our joy.

God has his ways of 'taming' us and becoming our Father and loving us as his children. Whoever we are!

Let me end with a true and unforgettable experience that I will treasure always.

Fathers Pinto, and Jilson, come from Kerala, India. Thomas the Apostle evangelized India in the year 52 AD, not even a generation after the passion, death, and Resurrection of our dear Savior.

Many edifying qualities strengthen family life in Kerala.

Here is the outstanding one I share with you:

When you are greeted in a Catholic home in Kerala, at the main entrance, the first image you encounter is that of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, enthroned on the facing wall. It says the following to the visitor: "Here is the true Master of this home."

I like to call Kerala "The Ireland of India" because it gives so many missionaries to the world. Not just priests, sisters, and brothers, but missionary families as well.

The families I have met here in America from Kerala live the faith in their homes; they embrace it, they love it, and they share it. They are on fire with the faith because of the warmth with which the faith is celebrated in their homes.

Friends, allow God into your home to 'tame' you and your family.

I beg you on bended knee, try praying together in your home. Watch what happens.

And remember what Venerable Patrick Peyton loved to proclaim, "The family that prays together, stays together."

He also said, and I quote: "If families give Our Lady fifteen minutes a day by reciting the Rosary, I assure them that their homes will become, by God’s grace, peaceful places."

Finally, please pray for us priests as we continue to pray for you and your families and loved ones. Amen.
