In God We Trust: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity

Lost your way? It’s great to have a coach, teacher or mentor that you place your faith in … but we can go wrong when we lose sight of the big picture.

In today’s reading, King David got near-sighted in his life. Each of us in our own way can probably relate. Instead of first looking to God, King David looked to man. For us that might be a car, job title, checking account or athletic accomplishments.

All of this is very temporary and shortsighted. We are reminded to trust God first so that we can have the love and courage to do what is right and loving, without fearing the cost.

When you’re together with your family, look back a bit. Discuss who and what you each put first in your life. Has it been God and everything else flowed from that? Or do you need to straighten things out and get back on track?

The life we live comes first from God. May God bless you and your families.
