Inadequacy Meets Abundance: Family Reflection Video

Inadequacy Meets Abundance: Family Reflection Video

Seasonal Reflections

When Jesus senses a grave need to feed the crowd, he turns to his disciples to feed them. Like the boy in my story today, the task before them looked so big that they failed to see the power of the One who asked them to do the task.

Had they not seen Jesus turn water into wine, heal the sick, give sight to the blind, make the lame walk, or the number of miracles they just witnessed among the same crowd? Clearly, it was not the bread that He was seeking from the disciples, but faith.

The passage isn’t just a story about feeding hungry stomachs. It’s about how we understand Jesus and imitate him in our lives.

Jesus is sufficient to meet our overwhelming needs. He is in control of every situation. Our inadequacies and inadequate resources do not limit him. And, more importantly, Jesus doesn’t just barely meet our needs, He abundantly supplies beyond our needs!

During this Advent, as we prepare for His coming, you will find many resources about The Power of One “YES” to God throughout our websites and social media. Like the disciples in today’s passage, Mary perceived the herculean task ahead, but she trusted and depended on God’s Providence as she humbly said, “Yes.” Let us turn to her, whose formidable “YES” made incarnation possible, to accompany us as we invite Jesus into our lives and our families.
