“Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus tells us today that His family isn’t limited to those who are blood relatives or those who have married into the family. The requirement for membership in the family that Jesus is forming is simply to do the will of God.
In a time when family membership carried a significant meaning, this exchange would have been shocking to those gathered around the house. This can be hard for us to hear too...
Those who suffer from conflicts in the family or a divide among members know it isn’t always easy to simply follow the will of God as Jesus asks. Let us reflect on this. Is your family part of Jesus’ family? How do you carry out God’s will?
