Know Your Prayer: Family Reflection Video

Why pray?

Am I working to do God’s will, or do I expect God to work for mine?

When Jesus’ disciples asked what they should say to God in prayer, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer. This simple prayer is an incredibly powerful gift that reassures us of God’s many blessings. Let go and ask that God’s will be done, not our own.

Have you ever ignored God to do what you think is better? How did you make that decision? What was the outcome? When you’re talking with your family, ask them too. Maybe they have some examples from their own life.

Pray the Lord’s Prayer with your family and slow down as you say the words, “thy will be done,” so you can really think about the meaning.

My prayer today is for those of us who think we can do it ourselves … remember the gift and power of prayer!
