Learning to Be Generous, as God is with Us: Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor

It might not always be fair, but what is really important here?

So often we hear discussions about God’s justice and mercy…and we try to understand, much like a good parent, how God sizes up people and situations and both holds us accountable for using our free will but also forgives us when we sin. When we’re the one needing the mercy of God, we’re so glad to have a God of generous mercy; doing as He wishes; forgiving and strengthening us in our time of need. It’s then that we don’t mind being the one who God goes looking for in the afternoon, evening, or night to offer us His merciful forgiveness and another chance.

If we’re honest with ourselves, I think the answer is sometimes we are envious when it comes to God’s mercy. We’re envious with those who don’t seem to have worked as hard or long at “playing by the rules” of being a follower of Jesus; it just doesn’t seem fair. As a family united in faith, we can ask God to allow us to grow in the belief that He is the God who goes searching for us to give us what we need in this life to prosper both physically and spiritually; though at times by the world’s standards we don’t deserve it.

How do you see God helping others?
