Making Marriage Work: Family Reflection Video

Healing the family

“The family is God’s masterpiece,” says Pope Francis.

The family is a major foundational unit of life, but the amount of stress it is under today is overwhelming! The divorce rate is so high, and young people skip getting married and go right to living together. I was caught by surprise when I found an article about a city in Bosnia where there is no record of divorce. For their wedding ceremony, couples here kneel before a cross and commit to each other as Jesus committed to us.

It is the intention of marriage that “people should not consider divorce as an option for solving problems,” but work in their relationship and commitment. Couples today can ask if their actions are helping their marriage grow stronger; and each of us can ask if we support a healthy view of marriage in our society.

Are you working on your relationships?

Lord, bless couples who have united for life in your name, and help those struggling to heal, so they may live as one in love.
