Listening And Responding: Family Reflection Video

Listening And Responding: Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor  |  Seasonal Reflections

The word rain, R-A-I-N, is significant to today's gospel. In a parable used by Jesus, rain is a force of nature that is capable of destroying a house with a weak foundation.

The letters in the word rain can also be used as an acronym reminding us how to build build a strong foundation for our spiritual 'houses' -  our spiritual lives.

RAIN: Recognize, Accept, Investigate, and Nurture.

Advent is a season for us to recognize God with us, accept his comforting presence within us.

St. Francis Xavier, whose feast we celebrate today, is one saint who recognized the glory of God revealed to him by Jesus, accepted it, investigated the possibilities for serving which led him to convert thousands for the Lord as expressions of his living faith which he nurtured till his last breath.

Through attentive listening during this season of Advent, we can recognize God in His Word.

We can accept His presence among us and attune ourselves to his life-giving spirit living within us.

We can ponder the sacred mysteries,, just as Mary did and investigate the Lord’s plans for us.

And finally, we can nurture our spiritual life with God, our family, and our neighbors.

May the love of God rain down upon us.
