Padre Pio: Consider Your Ways - Family Reflection Video

Padre Pio: Consider Your Ways - Family Reflection Video

Why pray?  |  Return to the Church  |  Holy lives of inspiration

Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, spent 50 years suffering from the Stigmata, the Crucifixion wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ. A Capuchin priest at the monastery in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, he was renowned as a confessor who could see into the soul.

Young Father Karol Wojtyla, the future Pope John Paul II, met Padre Pio in 1948 and Padre Pio shared a secret with the future pope: that in addition to the wound of the nails and the spear, he also carried a painful wound on his shoulder which made changing his undershirt extremely painful.

This wound to the shoulder also appears on the Shroud of Turin and seems to have come from our Lord’s carrying the heavy burden of the cross.

Consider your ways. All of us tend to take care of our personal business: our health, our homes, our family, our work, our leisure, our prayer life, our relationship with the Lord.

All of these areas need our attention.

Today, let us consider the beautiful words of Saint Padre Pio.

“Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.”
― Padre Pio

“Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if the devil shouts and roars around your conscience, since this shows that he is not inside your will.”
― Padre Pio

“My past, O Lord, to Your mercy; my present, to Your love; my future to Your providence.”
― St. Padre Pio

“Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart. You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips, but with your heart. In fact, on certain occasions, you should only speak to Him with your heart.”
― Padre Pio, Padre Pio

“Joy, with peace, is the sister of charity. Serve the Lord with laughter. ”
― Padre Pio

“The life of a Christian is nothing but a perpetual struggle against self; there is no flowering of the soul to the beauty of its perfection except at the price of pain.”
― Padre Pio

“The longer the trial to which God subjects you, the greater the goodness in comforting you during the time of the trial and in the exaltation after the combat.”
― Padre Pio

“The most beautiful act of faith is the one made in darkness, in sacrifice, and with extreme effort.”
― Padre Pio

“Do you not see the Madonna always beside the tabernacle?”
― Padre Pio
