Don’t forget the lamp oil!

In these few weeks, many parents are worried that their children are concerned about being accepted at school. I have received messages asking what to do, for advice or help, as we heard in today’s gospel. Parents seem to be saying “give us some of your oil, our lamps are going out!”

At the pace life today moves, it is no wonder parents feel their energy dwindling. They spend time with children, their spouse, take care of family, support their friends, and on and on! The gospel today reminds us to keep oil in our lamps by staying in tune with God, keeping Him in our daily relationships and activities.

How can we bring God closer into our relationships? Do we keep our “lamps lit?”

My friends, we pray for those in the dark today –may their light be rekindled and bring new energy!
