Rekindle the Embers Trapped Under the Ashes: Family Reflection Video

Rekindle the Embers Trapped Under the Ashes: Family Reflection Video

Why pray?

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

Growing up in the countryside, we used firewood for cooking, in earthen ovens, on raised platforms. Each morning, we cleared the ashes from the day before. No matter how big the pile of ashes, we always found embers under them to rekindle a new fire.

Jesus says today that he has come to set the world on fire. What fire did Jesus set in each of us? If he did set a fire, is that fire blazing within us or trapped under the ashes? The Lord is reminding us to uncover and rekindle that fire in us as my family did with our kitchen embers; to clean off the ashes regularly, to prevent the embers from dying-out, and to rekindle that fire within.
