Responding to the Coronavirus: Family Reflection Video

Why pray?  |  Strengthening family unity

I want to talk about the Coronavirus. Not to tell anyone what to do; rather, to think together about how to react, how to respond as Christians. This is a good case of putting virtue into practice, as the Scriptures today enjoin on us.

Today we’re hearing words from the Sermon on the Mount where Christ speaks of true virtue that resides deep inside us and becomes the way we act.

The two basics of putting the virtues into practice are real trust in God and responding to everything and everyone with love! Trusting in God doesn’t mean doing nothing! We need to respond and move forward with wisdom. That is, turning to the Lord, to the Holy Spirit, as we think carefully to make the best choices we can.

Let’s trust in God, respond with love and make the wisest choices we can. Instead of fearful, let’s be peaceful, loving, prudent, and understanding of what is going on.

Our world suffers a true epidemic of anxiety. For this we need grace, the Holy Spirit, so that deeply trusting in God within us leads to love, wisdom and courage!

Jesus I trust in you!
