Self-Righteousness vs. Self-Awareness: Family reflection Video

Self-Righteousness vs. Self-Awareness: Family reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor  |  Holy lives of inspiration

How can we welcome Jesus more fully into our lives?

Even though none of the dinner guests can believe it, the sincerity of the sinful woman washing Jesus’s feet was an action filled with more love than Simon’s invitation to dinner. Simon welcomed Jesus into his house, but the woman welcomed him into her heart, her life, and her struggles. Simon looking down on her makes him the self-righteous one, thinking he is more worthy of Jesus’s presence, and her the self-aware one, facing the scorn and rejection of putting pride aside to seek redemption.

When we scold small children for doing something forbidden, they still know they can run to you because you will forgive them and comfort them. They are sure of your loving embrace.

Can we be more aware of our opportunities to respond to God’s love?

We pray that we may be humble enough to praise Jesus, who forgives us, no matter how great our sins.
