Why did Mary travel in haste?
A Swiss theologian once said there are two dramas we can play in our lives. In one, we are the writer, producer, director, and star. This one narrates an ego-centric attitude and a selfish disposition. The other drama has God as the writer, producer, and director, with ourselves cast in roles only we can play because God knows what we can do.
Mary realizes her role is like no other. God has cast her as the only one who can carry out the role of the Mother of Christ. She makes haste when going to visit Elizabeth because she has found her joy in the Lord’s plan.
