Signs: Family Rosary Reflection

Holy lives of inspiration

The Lord understands the weakness of our faith. Yet this life we live now is meant to be a journey of growing and deepening faith. So He gives us many signs along the way! We need to have our eyes open to see them!

I am sure that the great majority of you have had experiences, signs, of how the Lord has been there with you at really significant times. But then when challenges and difficulties come, we can be like Peter walking on water who doubts, and starts to sink. Or like the Apostles felt before the task of feeding the multitude before them.

One of the great signs for us is Our Lady, Our Mother, and model of faith. We turn to her to help us grow in faith, particularly when things are difficult.

The Gospel of John talks of signs. Jesus worked many miracles to strengthen our faith, but particularly Saint John refers to some of these as signs, like the changing of water to wine in Cana, or the multiplication of the loaves and fishes we hear of today. These biblical signs show how the Son of God is unfolding a divine plan in which we participate, according to His time and His will, to save us!

This great sign of the loaves and the fishes is all about the Eucharist: the great sacramental sign in the Church that Christ always remains with us!

Lord,
You give us sacramental signs
so that we will open our eyes and hearts
to see Your signs, great and small, each day,
be it a beautiful sunrise or the love of child.
Jesus we trust in You.
Amen.
