Follow Jesus's Word: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity

What makes us worthy of the Lord?

We hear today how Jesus got into Simon’s boat to preach to the crowds, and then told expert fishermen to cast out their nets. Simon replies that they have already been working hard, but caught nothing … but if Jesus says so, they’ll give it another try. They then caught so much fish the boats nearly sank!

As Jesus went through a sort of “interview process” for choosing his disciples, there were three main qualities he was looking for in his followers: for them to be hungry, humble, and smart. Humble to work as a team. Hungry to search for what more can be done. Smart to use common sense in dealing with and understanding others. These can strengthen any team, and families too, we just need to remember when we follow Jesus’s word, we can’t go wrong.

Do I aim to be hungry, humble, and smart? How do I encounter these qualities with my family? With others?

Our prayers today are for those seeking Christ; may they be ready to be new disciples!
