“Thomas, you have spoken well of me.”
In responding to the Pharisees’ accusation that Jesus is in league with Satan, Jesus answers with perfect logic: “How can Satan drive out Satan? A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.” The demonic always tries to divide and scatter, but Jesus is about communion, bringing together, feeding the hungry, and inspiring the hopeless.
Saint Thomas Aquinas was called the ‘Angelic Doctor’ because his teaching had such depth and beauty. He was asked to compose a hymn by the Pope, and it is still sung today at Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. It is said that Jesus spoke to Thomas, telling him he liked the song. I think it is a beautiful one today, inspiring hope in us still.
