The Apostle Thomas, What

The Apostle Thomas, What's in a Name? Family Reflection Video

Return to the Church  |  Holy lives of inspiration

There’s Tom, Tommy, Father Tom, Thomas…

You may not know as many Thomases as I do, but most people have heard the expression “to be a doubting Thomas;” after the one who lacked faith. Looking at it a different way, Thomas set the bar high for what would convince him, because if this was truly his teacher, that meant everything Jesus had taught and promised was true!

People who are really searching to understand the faith need others to lead them to Jesus and Saint Thomas is a wonderful role model in this quest for understanding. Each of us is meant to search for Jesus, grow in our faith, and witness this faith, as Saint Thomas did.

What is it that you or your family is wrestling with in terms of faith? What is it you need to probe and seek answers from Jesus?

Known by many as a doubter, let us today be inspired by Saint Thomas, a role model for the many moments we search for answers.
