The Children and Dogs: Family Reflection Video

Healing the family

Was Jesus in a bad mood today? That’s not the kind of Jesus we know.

Whether Jesus was in a bad mood, trying to teach his disciples a lesson or testing the Canaanite woman’s faith, this passage is about the reality in which we live. Our world is divided between “children” and “dogs,” “good and bad,” “privileged and not privileged.” The Canaanite woman referred to as “dog,” is aware of this disparity, but still moves closer to Jesus and kneels before him in prayer.

We’ve experienced similar situations when our faith is tested. But each time we fail to be persistent with God and one another, our chances of being healed are missed. Even when we are hit hard with the realities of life in our families, we need to unquestioningly move to Christ. We need to kneel down as a family before God and pray like the Canaanite woman, “Lord, help me.”

How can you and your family work to trust completely in the Lord?
