Once, a passer-by asked a blind boy who was flying a kite, “Hey, do you know where your kite is?” The boy replied, “I cannot see it, but I can feel the tug of the string!”
The awareness of the presence of the Divine power in our lives is the same. We may not be able to see but can feel His presence and experience His power and strength!
In the first reading today, Paul shares his experience of “the Divine tug of the string” during his perilous times to encourage Timothy and us so that we too may persevere. He wants us to grow deeper in our awareness and dependence on Jesus in our life.
Paul had experienced “the Divine tug of the string” during the perilous times, that he described in his letter to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 11:23-28), but the Lord delivered Paul from all his perils because he believed and depended totally on His Divine power.
Paul suggests ways Timothy could, and we too, can feel “the Divine tug of the string” during our perilous times.
