Dinggg donggg!
When our doorbell rings, we go see who is at the door. In Eastern tradition, friends and relatives can come visit without prior notice. Imagine what a joyous surprise this is when the visitor is a friend you have not seen in a long time!
Today’s liturgy reminds us of coming back home. Our God is tender and compassionate; gathering his lambs, carrying them with him. We tend to go astray, distancing ourselves from God, traditions, friends, our brothers and sisters. This is where we hear our doorbell ringing. At the door is Jesus, in search of us. He wants to enter our home and spend some time with us.
Who will be visiting you this season? Are you ready to answer the door?
During this time of Advent, let us open the door of our hearts to the guest who rings our doorbell every day.
