The Fire and the Fire Extinguishers: Family Reflection Video

The Fire and the Fire Extinguishers: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity  |  Return to the Church

There’s an ironic scene in front of the Jesuit headquarters in Rome with a very important message for us.

The tongues of fire at the Pentecost represent the descent of the Holy Spirit. It is the same fire that is conferred upon us at the time of our Confirmation. For some, that fire is still burning within … but for others, it has been put out by the “fire-extinguishers” within us and in our society today.

Many churches are empty. Families are falling apart. There are a lot of compromises made to respect individual freedoms. A different set of values has taken control over our lives.

The Lord is once again asking us to ignite that fire! Let’s think about that for a moment. Do we recognize the “fire extinguishers” in our lives? What do we need to do to avoid them?

Today, let us ask the Lord to kindle the fire within us so that we may be dynamic, enthusiastic, cheerful and energetic Christians.
