The Joy of Forgiving: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity  |  Healing the family

Nothing can affect you unless you allow it to.

One of the dangers many couples face is the failure to take responsibility for the choices they make including the choice to forgive. They let others interfere in their marriage. And they blame others for their problems. They need to realize that nothing from outside can affect them, unless they let it. They can move toward a happier and holier life by asking God for strength to forgive, and to ask the other for forgiveness.

Many Christians think that forgiveness is unrealistic and unattainable. The Old Testament law required retribution. But Jesus is bringing a new law. His law invites you to extend love to those who harm you and requires you to forgive them. Forgiving can be a process: a process of going through a series of falling down and getting up again, but we have Christ on our side, ready to support us any and every time we fail.

Let us pray to the Lord to fill our heats with the spirit of forgiveness.
