“The Little Way”: Family Reflection Video

Holy lives of inspiration

Why do so many feel connected to this saint?

In my first year of seminary, I started to notice that my classmates and the priest-professors had a devotion to St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Many years later, I can understand more fully how in each of our lives; there is something we all can learn from this humble Doctor of the Church. To begin with, her "little way" offers a path to every one of us to holiness. Through her spiritual journey, she discovered that though she wouldn't be able to fulfill her desires of becoming a missionary, she could do the loving thing in every situation. Imagine for a moment, the effect St. Therese’s “little way" can have on the peacefulness of our families, neighborhoods, and workplaces if we can try to do the loving thing in every interaction.

I think the idea of a holy religious sister in the faith persevering in her journey of faith, praying for her brothers is what attracted my classmates and priest professors. It was the idea that no matter whether you are called to the vocation of priesthood or another vocation, no matter how your original plans are matching with God’s, there is a way to move forward in love.

How can we bring love to every situation? How can we inspire others to do the same?
