“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
After reading the scripture today, the people look to Jesus intently. He boldly identifies himself as the Messiah and declares his radical mission to free the oppressed. We need him today in our families as well as our personal lives to set ourselves free.
In a spiritual sense, we too are the poor, the hungry, the oppressed, the imprisoned, and the blind. Our homes should be places of presence, but have become halls of absence. Jesus comes to free us from this isolation, even if it is of our own making.
What shall we do to release our families from isolation? How can we be more present?
To become closer and experience presence. Lord, hear our prayers!
