The Path to Peace: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity

So Jesus and the disciples got into a boat on the eastern shore of the sea of Galilee to go home on the western shore..

A way into the trip someone realizes that they forgot to bring the bread. It was long trip in a small sail boat and we can imagine the conversation. “Oh no, what do we do now? I’m already hungry… How could you do something so stupid? What if there winds are bad and it takes us all night to get there”… Jesus then interjects: “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees” They clearly don’t understand  and they keep on squabbling…

What is this yeast of the Pharisees? Just before this, Jesus had been curing lots of people and even worked the Miracle of the loaves and the fishes a second time. The Pharisees had seen all that and they still had the gall to ask him for another sign, to test him: inflated with pride, they’re afraid of Jesus because they risk losing their status and power. This POISONOUS yeast of the Pharisees is our deep-seated pride and fear that feed off of each other in what seems like an endless cycle going back to Adam and Eve. Their first sin of pride, kicked it off – our urge to assert ourselves above others and our knee-jerk tendency to fear and anxiety. They get in the way of what the Lord knows is our path to true peace and happiness: TO TRUST IN HIM!

Dear parents, please understand – and pray in the home so you can make sure your kids are on this road to TRUE LIFE! So they will ever grow in TRUSTING IN JESUS.
