Do we possess wealth or does wealth possess us?
A father took his soon to see how the poor live, so he would be motivated to work hard when he grew up. On the way home, the boy commented that the people they saw had entire rivers, compared to his swimming pool, they had friendly neighbors, compared to his gated community, and they had land beyond sight, compared to his small plot. He said, “Thank you, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!”
Sometimes we live in a checklist, thinking we need so much to be happy, but Jesus says one does not come to God’s Kingdom by completing a check-list of good deeds, but by living in the right attitude. Do we see importance in things outside of wealth? What humble place do you find Jesus?
Lord, keep our hearts humble.
