The Time is Now: The Power of Family Prayer

Why pray?  |  Strengthening family unity

We don't want you to miss this. Holy Cross priest, Father David Guffey, the National Director of our media ministry, Family Theater Productions, wrote a beautiful article for the National Catholic Register.

In the article, Father Guffey begins:

"The amount of time people have been under the same roof, on the same property, is unprecedented. There must be some way in which God will use this time for our benefit. But to be prepared to receive such blessings, we need to ask: What are our responses, and how might this be borne as gift?"

Father Guffey makes an impassioned plea for families to pray together, especially the Rosary. For some families, it may already be part of their daily tradition. For other families, they might have the desire, but feel awkward and don't really know how to begin. Perhaps prayer has typically been a private matter for them.

Father Guffey is convincing when he explains the time is now to pray together in your home ... in your little domestic church. There are many online resources for families at this time to learn how to pray the Rosary together. See below.

It only takes one time to get over the awkward ... and start enjoying the graces.

The article also makes reference to another Holy Cross priest, Venerable Patrick Peyton, who is still remembered around the world for his popular message, The Family That Prays Together Stays Together. That message seems more critical now than ever, doesn't it?

Have you used this time to pray together as a family?

Was this a new way for your family to pray?

If so, please share what that experience was like with our readers in the comment section below.
