Faithfulness to each other is one of the essential virtues of a family. When it is missing, something is lost in the family.
Today’s Gospel presents four characters: John the Baptist, Herod, Herodias and Salome. Let us examine ourselves in the light of these gospel characters and see where we stand.
Are we righteous and courageous like John the Baptist?
Or weak cowards like Herod?
Are we revengeful and jealous like Herodias?
Or immature and irresponsible like Salome?
Lord Jesus, help us to live lives of integrity and give us the courage to speak and act on our beliefs like John the Baptist, even if it breaks relationships with others at times. Amen.
