Touched by an Angel: Family Reflection Video

Holy lives of inspiration

I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” A word about the Three archangels, about being touched by an angel and about Raphael, who heals.

The Church honors three angelic figures today who in the holy scriptures are called by their proper name. The first is Michael the Archangel, meaning “One who is like God.” The second is Gabriel, “God’s Strength.” He is linked for all time to the mystery of the Incarnation of the son of God which he announced to the Virgin Mary. The third Archangel is called Raphael, “God heals.” All three protect, help and rescue human beings and guide them along the road to eternal life. We are wise to seek their assistance just as we seek the assistance of our Guardian Angel.

I was touched by an angel once. Her name was/is Roma Downey. This beautiful actress starred in the popular television series, Touched by an Angel. Once, in conversation, learning that she was from Northern Ireland, I asked her if she had ever heard of Patrick Peyton, the Rosary priest. "Oh, Father Peyton, he was responsible for all those hours I had to kneel with bare knees upon the cold linoleum carpet in my parents kitchen. My Father loved Father Peyton and we prayed the Rosary every night growing up."

Parents, grandparents, worried about your children, call upon the archangels, especially Raphael. Amen.
